Resumo: Encontrada em um manuscrito do começo do século XVII, a novela de La tía fingida tem gerado controvérsia entre os cervantistas desde o século XIX. Sem identificar o autor, o copista também incluiu em seu manuscrito dois textos das Novelas ejemplares, publicadas por Cervantes em vida: El celoso extremeño e Rinconete y Cortadillo. A proximidade destas três novelas levou alguns especialistas a considerar Cervantes também o autor de La tía fingida. Contudo, esta hipótese continua polêmica, posto que nenhuma outra referência a este texto sobreviveu de seu tempo, o que torna qualquer atribuição meramente especulativa. Este trabalho não pretende resolver a polêmica, mas trazer esta novela ao conhecimento no Brasil (onde é quase que completamente ignorada) com uma tradução e um estudo introdutório Ver menos

Abstract: Recovered from an early 17th century manuscript, the novela of La tía fingida (The pretended aunt) has sparked controversy among Cervantes scholars since the 19th century. Without identifying the author, the scribe also included in his manuscript two texts from the Novelas ejemplares (Exemplary novels), published by Cervantes during his lifetime: El celoso extremeño (The jealous Extremaduran) and Rinconete y Cortadillo (Rinconete and Cortadillo). The proximity of these three novelas in the manuscript led some specialists to believe Cervantes was also the author of La tía fingida. This hypothesis, however, remains polemical as no other reference to this text has survived from its time, making any attribution only speculative.
