Resumo: A composicao quimica inorganica do particulado total em suspensao (PTS) na Amazonia e provaveis fontes de emissao foram estudadas em amostras coletadas na localidade de Alenquer, a margem do Rio Amazonas, regiao Oeste do Para. As amostras foram coletadas em dois periodos de 15 dias, correspondentes as estacoes chuvosa (abril) e seca (agosto) de 2014. Os metodos analiticos usados incluiram a analise gravimetrica, analise das fases soluveis por cromatografia ionica, extracao parcial e analise por ICP-MS. Foram tambem investigadas as retrotajetorias das massas de ar e distribuicao de focos de queima de biomassa a epoca da coleta das amostras. Nos periodos chuvoso e seco, as concentracoes medias de particulado atmosferico variaram de 13,8 ¿Êg.m-3 a 30,6 ¿Êg.m-3, respectivamente. Os ions Na., Cl., SO.2., NO.. e os metais Na, Ca, K e Cu apresentaram as concentracoes mais altas nos particulados coletados em ambos periodos. Esses dados de composicao quimica e as retrotrajetorias de massas de ar sugerem o predominio de fontes emissoras naturais como aerossol marinho, fonte biogenica e ressuspensao de poeira do solo, esta ultima, mais evidente no periodo seco.
Abstract: The inorganic chemical composition of the total suspended particulate (TSP) in the Amazon and probable sources of emissions were studied in samples collected at Alenquer, in the Amazon riverbank, western of Para. The samples were collected in two periods of 15 days corresponding to the rainy season (April) and dry season (August) of 2014. The analytical methods used included gravimetric analysis, analysis of soluble phases by ion chromatography, partial extraction and analysis by ICP-MS. The air mass retro-trajectories and distribution of biomass burning outbreaks at the time of sample collection were also investigated. In the rainy and dry seasons, the average concentrations of airborne particulate ranged from 13.8 ¿Êg.m.3 to 30.6 ¿Êg.m.3, respectively. The ions Na., Cl., SO.2., NO.. and metals Na, Ca, K and Cu had the highest concentrations in particulates collected in both periods. These chemical composition data and air mass retro-trajectories suggest the predominance of natural emission sources as marine aerosol, biogenic source and soil dust resuspension, the latter, more evident in the dry season Ver menos
