Abstract: This research aimed to analyze the changes that occurred in scientific journalism with the arrival of the new coronavirus, focusing on the reports produced and broadcasted on the TV news programs Jornal Nacional, from TV Globo, and Jornal da Record, from Record TV, in the month of July 2020. Since 2020, with the declaration of the pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), Brazil has faced changes in societal behavior, following international patterns. In addition to the recommended social isolation and new hygiene practices, such as the use of masks and hand sanitizer, there were also discursive changes from both political figures and the media. The study aimed to identify, based on the urgency of facts that brought science into people's daily lives, how daily news programs appropriated and disseminated technical and scientific knowledge. The research also reflected on two factors that directly affected the journalistic productions presented by the television news: the interference of the Federal Government as an advertiser and the government measures taken during the period to hinder access to data about the Covid-19 situation in the country
