Abstract: This research set out to investigate the possibilities that cinema (ALMEIDA, 2014; 2017; 2018) - especially through fictional films – has in relating the consequences of climate change to people's daily lives (ROQUE, 2020), affirming them in the face of the different ways of denying climate reality (DANOWSKI, 2012; 2018: ROQUE, 2020). In order to carry out this investigation, Gilbert Durand's readings of the imaginary (1996; 2004) were used as a basis, and to observe the possibilities of discussing the New Climate Regime (LATOUR, 2020a) based on fictional films, three cinematographic works by Bong Joon Ho were analyzed. Denialism, more generally, can be understood as the discrepancy between scientific consensus and public opinion (DANOWSKI, 2012), as was observed intensely during the COVID-19 pandemic. With regard to the denials of the climate emergency, one of the issues that helps in the distrust of such changes is precisely their lack of materiality, which makes them a hyperobject (DANOWSKI, 2012). In addition, there is a crisis of trust between society and science – the result, among other things, of scientism, the distance between academia and society (ROQUE, 2020) and the predominance of strictly Western science – as well as the difficulty, on the part of the population, in seeing tangible benefits from actions to tackle climate change (ROQUE, 2020). It is important to point out that denialism is not a cognitive issue or a lack of information – various surveys and researches (CARVALHO, 2022; GLOBAL, 2021; ITS, 2023; CGEE/MCTI, 2020) have shown that most people are aware of the issue. In this sense, the following questions arise: How can we remove the hyperobject nature of climate change? How can we bridge the gap between science and society? One way to sensitize – using various senses, feelings and sensations based on aesthetics (ALMEIDA, 2014) – can be through cinema. Based on the discussion about the different layers that films have (RICOEUR, 2013), this research analyzed three films by Bong Joon Ho: Express of Tomorrow (2013), Okja (2016) and Parasite (2019). From the reading that there is an environmental imaginary present in his recent filmography, the possibilities of dialogue with the public about the New Climate Regime were analyzed
