Abstract: Two new species of Pleroma D. Don (Melastomataceae: Melastomeae) from Brazil are described and illustrated here. Pleroma caissara F. S. Mey. and P. guartelaensis F. S. Mey & R. Goldenb. have been repeatedly determined and recognised in taxonomic treatments respectively as Tibouchina regnellii Cogn. and T. riedeliana Cogn. P. caissara can be recognised by the arboreal habit, dichasial inflorescences, two involucral, elliptic bracteoles, and purple petals with a white basal portion. P. guartelaensis can be recognised by the shrubby habit, congested inflorescences, two elliptic bracteoles, sericeous hypanthium and glandulose-setulose to glandulose-villose filaments

Resumo: Duas novas espécies de Pleroma D. Don (Melastomataceae: Melastomeae) provenientes do Brasil são aqui descritas e ilustradas. Pleroma caissara F. S. Mey. e P. guartelaensis F. S. Mey & R. Goldenb. vinham sendo erroneamente identificadas e tratadas respectivamente como Tibouchina regnellii Cogn. e T. riedeliana Cogn. P. caissara pode ser reconhecida pelo porte arbóreo, inflorescência em cimeiras de dicásio, duas bractéolas involucrais, elípticas, e pétalas roxas, apenas com a porção da unha com coloração branca. P. guartelaensis pode ser reconhecida pelo porte arbustivo, inflorescências congestas, duas bractéolas elípticas, hipanto seríceo e filetes glanduloso-setulosos a glanduloso-vilosos
