Resumo: O infinito pessoal no português tem sido estudado desde sua origem, sendo O infinito flexionado português, de Maurer Jr. (1968), a obra de maior fôlego sobre o assunto. Esta pesquisa contribui para a temática ao investigar o infinito pessoal na língua portuguesa à luz da Abordagem multissistêmica da Língua, através de análises qualitativas de dados diacrônicos (cartas particulares, de leitores e oficiais dos séculos XVIII, XIX e XX) oriundos do corpus do Projeto Para a História do Português Brasileiro (PHPB) partindo, por convenção analítica, da sintaticização. A Abordagem multissistêmica, proposta por Castilho desde 1998, tendo sua formulação mais recente em Castilho (2020), identifica, organiza e caracteriza quatro sistemas envolvidos simultaneamente na produção de qualquer expressão linguística: a Gramática, o Léxico, a Semântica e o Discurso. Eles são independentes uns dos outros, no sentido de que não há relações de dominância entre eles, mas operam simultaneamente obedecendo a um princípio de harmonia intersistêmica. Como recorte metodológico, adotamos o subsistema da Sintaxe como ponto de partida para a manifestação multissistêmica do infinito. A Abordagem multissistêmica se filia aos estudos que concebem a língua como um sistema complexo e que entendem que as categorias linguísticas, em seus processos e produtos, como parte do conhecimento linguístico dos falantes, sendo coerente com a perspectiva cognitivista-funcionalista aqui também adotada. Através dessa abordagem, jogamos luz no estatuto categorial do infinito pessoal, nas delimitações desse infinito que incluem e extrapolam as marcas gramaticais de pessoa, nos diferentes lugares que ele ocupa no sistema da Sintaxe e no caráter subordinado desse infinito nas ocorrências do corpus Ver menos

Abstract: The personal infinitive in Portuguese has been studied since its origin. O infinito flexionado português, by Maurer Jr. (1968), is the most important work on the subject. This research contributes to the theme by investigating the personal infinitive in Brazilian Portuguese through the light of the Multisystemic approach to Language, starting from the syntatization, through qualitative analysis of diachronic data (private letters, letters from readers and official letters of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries) from of the corpus of the Project for the History of Brazilian Portuguese (PHPB). The Multisystemic approach, proposed by Castilho at the beginning of the 21st century, having its most recent formulation in Castilho (2020), identifies, organizes and characterizes four systems involved simultaneously in the production of any linguistic expression: Grammar, Lexicon, Semantics and Speech. They are independent of each other, in the sense that there are no dominance relations between them, but they operate simultaneously obeying a principle of intersystemic harmony. For analytical convenience, we adopted the Syntax system as a starting point for the multisystemic manifestation of infinitive. The Multisystem approach is affiliated with studies that conceive language as a complex system and that understand linguistic categories, their processes and products, as part of the linguistic knowledge of speakers, being coherent with the cognitive-functionalist perspective also adopted here. Through this approach, we shed light on the categorical status of the personal infinite, on the boundaries of that infinite that include and extrapolate the grammatical marks of the person, in the different places that it occupies in the Syntax system and in the subordinate character of that infinitives in the occurrences from the corpus Ver menos
