Resumo: O objetivo desta pesquisa foi qualificar, temporal e referencialmente, a compreensão sobre os significados atribuídos ao termo Building Information Modeling e relacionados. O método da Revisão Sistemática da Literatura (RSL) estruturou o delineamento geral da pesquisa. O método da Análise Cienciométrica foi utilizado para produzir e analisar as amostras segundo as questões da RSL. As análises deram origem a resultados sintetizados e organizados em tabelas, gráficos de linhas e figuras produzidas com a técnica de mapeamento por visualização de similaridades. Foi constatado que são necessários três grupos para categorizar as compreensões relacionadas aos diferentes significados atribuídos a Building Information Modeling e termos relacionados ao longo do tempo: modelos, processos e sistemas. A análise dos resultados obtidos permitiu consolidar a percepção de que a evolução da tecnologia possibilitou ao termo Building Information Modeling alcançar todo o globo, se tornando presente em quase todas as áreas do conhecimento para o setor AECO, para a amostra deste estudo. Ao mesmo tempo, foi detectado crescimento em números absolutos da produção relacionada a Computer-Aided Architectural Design e Virtual Design and Construction, o que os qualifica como termos associados a BIM em atividade por esta pesquisa. Foi constatado que todas as definições propostas para Building Information Model, de 1989 a 2014, são semelhantes, o que indicou consenso entre pesquisadores a respeito do significado atribuído ao termo. Para os especialistas, estaria associado à produção de modelos para realizar diversas análises para todas as etapas do ciclo de vida de um empreendimento. Com relação a Building Information Modeling, verificou-se uma mudança na evolução do significado predominantemente atribuído ao termo, se deslocando do eixo tecnológico em direção à temas relacionados a processos e gestão de todas as atividades que estruturam o setor da construção civil. Identificou-se um significado latente a ser atribuído a BIM do ponto de vista da comunidade científica: a de que BIM é um termo utilizado para definir soluções arquitetônicas e de engenharia que tem por objetivo produzir dados de qualidade para que desenvolver projetos com excelente performance; em resumo, Building Information Modeling define o processo de produção de dados para projetos de alta performance. Desta forma, acredita-se que a contribuição do trabalho está em reunir quase a totalidade de artigos científicos publicados em periódicos de língua inglesa, entre 1964 e 2018, associados a BIM e termos correlatos, sintetizá-los e organizá-los temporalmente e por seu conteúdo, o que permitiu construir uma narrativa empírica que relaciona os desenvolvimentos realizados pelos pesquisadores às compreensões a respeito dos significados atribuídos aos termos resultando em uma definição atualizada Ver menos

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to qualify, over time and through references, the understanding of the meanings attributed to the term Building Information Modeling and others related. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method structured the general outline of the research. The Scientometric Analysis method was used to produce and analyze the samples according to SLR questions. The analyzes yielded results synthesized and organized in tables, line graphs and figures produced with the similarity visualization mapping technique. It was found that three groups are needed to categorize understandings related to the different meanings attributed to Building Information Modeling and related terms over time: models, processes, and systems. The analysis of the obtained results led to the consolidation of the understanding that the evolution of technology enabled the term Building Information Modeling to reach the entire globe, becoming present in almost all areas of knowledge for the AECO sector, for the sample of this study. At the same time, growth in absolute numbers was detected in the production related to Computer-Aided Architectural Design and Virtual Design and Construction, which qualifies them as active BIM-associated terms by this research. It was found that all definitions proposed for Building Information Model from 1989 to 2014 are similar, which indicated consensus among researchers about the meaning attributed to the term. For experts, it would be associated with the production of models to perform various analyzes for all stages of a project's life cycle. Regarding Building Information Modeling, there was an evolution of the meaning predominantly attributed to the term, moving from the technological axis towards the themes related to processes and management of all activities that structures the construction sector. A latent meaning has been identified to be attributed to BIM from the point of view of the scientific community: that BIM is a term used to define architectural and engineering solutions that aims to produce quality data to develop projects with excellent performance. In short, Building Information Modeling would define the data production process for high performance projects.
