Resumo: Para Wallerstein, as revoluções foram elementos extremamente importantes na evolução histórica do Moderno Sistema Mundo, sendo responsáveis por mudar parâmetros importantes sobre os quais o Sistema Mundo como um todo vem evoluindo e, dessa forma, criando as contradições internas que o levaram à bifurcação. O autor aponta a Revolução Francesa como ponto culminante do abandono dos resquícios feudais e do início da Economia Mundo Capitalista propriamente dita. A sua importância na história do sistema se deve à centralidade do conflito França-Inglaterra pela hegemonia da economia-mundo. Já as Revoluções de 1848 são para Wallerstein a primeira forma de revolução mundial do moderno Sistema Mundo. Além disso, foi por meio de 1848 que o liberalismo emergiu como ideologia oficial do sistema. A Revolução Russa, para o autor, foi tanto uma revolução de libertação nacional quanto uma forma de apresentar os bolcheviques à esquerda mundial como um movimento de volta para uma posição verdadeiramente antissistêmica, há muito abandonada. Por fim, a Revolução de 1968 foi direcionada ao sistema histórico como um todo: contra a hegemonia norte-americana e contra a estrutura econômica e militar que constituíam os pilares do sistema. Abstract: Revolutions were elements of central importance in the historical evolution of the Modern World System, as pointed by Wallerstein. It leads to important parameters changes, on which the System as a whole had evolved, creating the internal contradictions of the system that led to the Bifurcation. Wallerstein point out the French Revolution as the culmination of the abandonment of the feudal remnants and the beginning of the Capitalist World Economy. Its centrality in the system history is due to the France-England struggle centrality for the world economy hegemony. 1848 is the first form of a world revolution in the modern world system. Moreover, for Wallerstein, it was in 1848 that liberalism emerged as the official ideology of the system. The author sees the Russian Revolution in two main points: as nation liberation revolution; as a way of presenting the Bolsheviks to the world left. The world see the Bolsheviks as a movement back to a long-abandoned antisystemic position. Finally, the 1968 Revolution was against the historical system as a whole: against American hegemony; against the economic and military structure that constituted the central pillars of the system.
