Resumo: O objetivo central de nossa tese consiste análise do pensamento político de Palmiro Togliatti, secretário geral do Partido Comunista Italiano, mais precisamente nas suas contribuições para uma teoria processual de transição socialista, nos marcos das alternativas nacionais e democráticas, no período de 1944 à 1964. Togliatti desempenhou papel central na topografia do PCI e na reflexão sobre a via italiana para o socialismo desde o período de estreito vínculo com a União Soviética, até o momento em que se acentuava progressivamente a evolução do partido no sentido de ruptura do cordão umbilical com o "centro dirigente do movimento comunista internacional". O dirigente comunista italiano foi um dos principais teóricos do que se convencionou chamar de "via italiana para o socialismo". Para a construção do projeto e da estratégia da via italiana para o socalismo, Togliatti realizou aportes e revisões conceituais na tradição marxista, acentuando, como defenderemos neste trabalho, decisivamente o processo de socialdemocratização do Partido Comunista Italiano sobretudo quando progressivamente abandona a tradicional apologia às realizações stalinistas e ao sistema estatal soviético e assume como marcos fundamentais de suas posições políticas os seguintes pontos: a) a estratégia de conquistas parciais democráticas combinando ações parlamentares com ações das organizações de massa, privilegiando as primeiras em detrimento das segundas; b) a perspectiva de democratização da sociedade existente; c) a concepção de consolidação do movimento operário em função do peso que ocupam nas instituições; d) a concepção de democracia em geral e a aceitação, em prática e teoria, do quadro existente da democracia parlamentar; e) a visão de transição gradual e molecular para uma nova sociedade. A aplicação de uma estratégia neorreformista, como procuramos demonstrar neste trabalho, foi a marca da atuação de Togliatti nos vintes anos analisados neste trabalho. Abstract: The main goal of our dissertation is the analysis of the political thinking of Palmiro Togliatti, General Secretary of the Italian Communist Party. We will focus on his contributions to a processual theory of socialist transition within the framework of national and democratic alternatives from 1944 to 1964. Togliatti played a central role in the topography of the PCI and in the reflection on the Italian path to socialism since the period of close ties with the Soviet Union, until the evolution of the party was progressively intensified by the rupture with the "leading center of the international communist movement". The Italian communist leader was one of the main theorists of what was conventionally called "Italian path to socialism". Togliatti made contributions and conceptual revisions in the Marxist tradition for the construction of the project as well as the strategy of the Italian path previously mentioned. As we will argue in this work, he did it deepening the process of social-democratization of the Italian Communist Party, especially when he gradually abandons the conventional apology to the achievements of Stalinists and the Soviet state system and assumes as his political positions' cornerstones the following points: a) the strategy of partial democratic achievements combining parliamentary actions with mass organizations' actions, favoring the former to the detriment of the latter; b) the perspective of democratization of the existing society; c) the conception of consolidation of the labor movement as a result of the weight they have in the institutions; d) the concept of democracy in general and the practical and theorical acceptance of the existing framework of parliamentary democracy; e) the vision of gradual and molecular transition to a new society. The application of a neo-reformist strategy, as we have tried to demonstrate in this dissertation, was the hallmark of Togliatti's performance in the years analyzed.
