Resumo: Levando em conta um duplo olhar, sincrônico e diacrônico, esta tese propõe que a emergência do projeto da sociologia científica na Argentina da década de 1950, encabeçado por Gino Germani, bem como os combates travados com as referências anteriores (a saber, a predominância de uma sociologia histórica permeada por referências do pensamento alemão) e, notadamente, a própria crise desse projeto "científico", funcionam exemplarmente enquanto pontos de observação de um conflito intelectual que extrapola a esfera unicamente teórica. Proponho que, ao dedicar-se à inserção de referências norte-americanas no debate da sociologia argentina, o projeto desses intelectuais incide tanto sobre os conteúdos das teses quanto sobre a estrutura institucional da produção do conhecimento e, paralelamente, sobre a preponderância de determinados tipos de atitude intelectual. Nesse sentido a hipótese é que a recepção e a ressignificação das tradições francesas, alemã e estadunidense na sociologia argentina podem ser observadas a partir de três olhares concomitantes: a atenção aos enfrentamentos especificamente teóricos, as tensões institucionais e, finalmente, as mudanças na concepção de "intelectual" e de "sociólogo" que acompanham esse processo. Trata-se de uma história da intersecção entre esfera pública e privada no universo intelectual argentino, através da qual se supõe possível trazer à tona as dinâmicas de circulação intelectual e a tradução, para o contexto argentino, das disputas globais acerca do lugar da sociologia nos enfrentamentos disciplinares e na relação com os espaços extra-universitários. Sustento, por fim, que o período entre 1955 e 1957, momento de reorganização do campo intelectual argentino e, especificamente, da organização do curso de Sociologia na Universidade de Buenos Aires, marca o início de um inédito projeto de revisão das fontes que até então informavam os debates sociológicos naquele país, notadamente aquelas oriundas do clássico debate alemão acerca da "crise dos tempos", orientada pela divisão entre ciências do espírito (Geisteswissenschaften) e ciências naturais (Naturwissenschaften). Abstract: Taking into account a double, synchronous and diachronic look, this thesis proposes that the emergence of the project of scientific sociology in Argentina in the 1950s, headed by Gino Germani, as well as the struggles fought with previous references (namely, the predominance of a historical sociology permeated by references of German thought) and, especially, the crisis itself of this "scientific" project, are exemplarily points of observation of an intellectual conflict that extrapolates the sphere solely theoretical. I propose that the project of these intellectuals focuses both on the institutional structure of the production of knowledge and, on the other hand, on the preponderance of certain types of intellectual attitude, by dedicating itself to the insertion of American references in the debate of argentine sociology. In this sense the hypothesis is that the reception and re-signification of the French, German and American traditions in Argentine sociology can be observed from three concomitant glances: attention to specifically theoretical confrontations, institutional tensions and, finally, changes in the conception of "Intellectual" and "sociologist" that accompany this process. This is a story of the intersection between the public and private spheres in the Argentinean intellectual universe, through which it is possible to bring to light the dynamics of intellectual circulation and the translation into the argentine context of global disputes about the place of sociology in disciplinary confrontations and its relation to extra-university spaces. Lastly, I would like to point out that the period between 1955 and 1957, a time of reorganization of the Argentine intellectual field and specifically the organization of the Sociology course at the University of Buenos Aires, marks the beginning of an unprecedented project to review the sources that until then informed the sociological debates in that country, especially those coming from the classic german debate about the "crisis of the times", guided by the division between the sciences of the spirit (Geisteswissenschaften) and the natural sciences (Naturwissenschaften). The attempt to overcome these references, carried out by the project of scientific sociology, as well as the attacks suffered by the intellectual project in question, helps to understand how - recovering the inspiration of Carl Schorske in Vienna Fin de Sciècle (1981) to add to the diachronic analysis of the comparison of theses a synchronic cut in the cultural world - the project of scientific sociology did not only dialogue with other sociologies but also with other symbolic manifestations of the time that defined its limits and its pretension Ver menos
