Resumo: Fundamentado na Psicologia da Moralidade, este ensaio objetiva analisar o modelo de militarização da escola pública que vem ocorrendo em vários estados, municípios e proposto pelo Ministério da Educação do Brasil. A partir de uma revisão da literatura na área, são expostas características diversas dessas instituições, analisando-se dois pilares principais: o desempenho e, principalmente, a disciplina e a formação cidadã do estudante. São analisadas perspectivas de docentes, estudantes e famílias que as aprovam e, contrapondo-se a este modelo, são descritas propostas desenvolvidas em escolas que visam à melhoria da qualidade da convivência, mas, ao mesmo tempo, favorecem o desenvolvimento da autonomia moral, dos valores e de competências necessárias à vida, em uma sociedade democrática e cada vez mais complexa

Abstract: The ability of students to regulate their emotions is essential for school and academic success. Academic anxiety in general and, more specifically, test anxiety is one of the major challenges faced by college students. Its effects interfere with the motivation to learn, attitudes towards learning, and academic performance, among other aspects. To know and characterize the academic anxiety of college students is of utmost importance. In this sense, this chapter aims to identify the academic anxiety of Brazilian college students and examine it in relation to motivational, attitudinal, and demographic variables of the sample. Data were collected by the scales of anxiety, motivation, and attitudes towards learning of the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI - 3ed) and a questionnaire and analyzed by procedures of descriptive and inferential statistics. Suggestions for improving emotion regulation and reducing anxiety in Higher Education are presented

Abstract: This chapter presents a discussion on the development of the Brazilian education system. In the introduction, we resume the local and regional contexts and their relation to the global scenario using a historical-temporal perspective, focusing on the peculiarities of our political and democratic profile, Brazilian educational public policies, economy and social system. We descriptively reconstructed the beginnings of formal education: missionary and colonial education, independence and post-independence expansion. We point out the objectives of education, its organization, administration, structure, operation and its interfaces with the policies on curriculum, evaluation and funding. The discussion of these policies shows their impacts on the education of teachers and students, as well as the relation between education and work in the context of an approach of cycles and the neoliberal perspective. Beyond this, under the perspective of contextual influences, we have identified and described how OECD contributed to incorporate the analysis of comparative development indexes through which it is possible to re-discuss education quality, equity and other aspects. The understanding of all concepts used was broadened by a reformulation, not only due to the effects of the pandemic but also by a profound political and economic crisis that points toward an unprecedented historic setback in the democratic context

Abstract: This paper brings to light a still poorly known history, which demonstrates the technological and intellectual momentum of the geology of the State of São Paulo, before the creation of Petrobras. Although the results regarding the presence of oil in significant amounts were disappointing, relevant geological results were achieved, as well as technical advances. The initial steps of oil exploration in the State of São Paulo were linked to private entrepreneurs, and date back to the year of 1872. Exploration and research attempts took place in the hinterland localities of Morro do Bofete and Águas de São Pedro, through geological studies performed by naturalists, engineers and geologists. In the 1920s, surveys were performed by the Geographical and Geological Commission of São Paulo (CGG), in cooperation with the Brazilian Geological and Mineralogical Survey (SGMB). A special subdivision was created within the CGG in 1927, and the North American petroleum geologist Chester Wesley Washburne (1883–1971) was hired in 1928. The set of documentation used includes private and official letters, besides other types of historical documents, in custody of the Historical Archives of the State Geological Institute of São Paulo
