Title: Techniques For Mechanical System Identification Based On Time Discretization Analysis

Abstract: This work presents some techniques used in the modal identification of mechanical systems. The techniques are derived from the analysis of the response of discrete time systems. Such a response is generally seen as a summation of geometric Prony series. The Prony derived identification techniques are used in the analysis of forced and freely vibrating systems. The forced vibrating systems analysis is achieved from the knowledge of both excitation and response signals or from the system's response to random excitation forces. Examples are used to illustrate the techniques.
