Title: The Choice Of River Routing Parameters Based On Reliability Analysis Applied To Flood Control Purpose

Abstract: The effective reservoir operation for flood damage reduction depends on several factors. Besides the uncertainties of natural inflows, a successful reservoir operation will depend on adequacy of flood routing model adopted and its parameters. Therefore, there is great interest on reliability evaluation related to flood control, taking into account the randomness of river routing parameters. Such analysis is developed in this paper through a Second Moment Formulation. A case study is performed on a river reach of Paranapanema river basin, located at Brazilian Southeast. (Author)
