|Abstract:||The mechanical instability of anodic oxide films formed on aluminum rod surfaces was analyzed using Euler's method applied to thin cylindrical shells under compressive forces. The ratio Δγ/E between the aluminum oxide/aluminum work of adhesion per unit area Δγ and the bulk modulus E of the film-forming aluminum (hydrous) oxide was determined for coating films formed under various anodic currents. © 1992 American Chemical Society.|
