|Abstract:||Poly (aniline) was obtained as a fine powder by the chemical oxidation of aniline in an acid medium using three different oxidation agents: (NH4)2S2O8, KIO3 and K2Cr2O7. We studied the variation of the polymer conductivity as a function of the relationship between oxidation agent and monomer during the synthesis. Using cyclic voltammetry experiments we compare the electroactivity of these samples with an electrochemically prepared polymer and show that the chemically prepared polyaniline has properties very similar to the electrochemically prepared polymer and that the oxidizing agent type or concentration has little effect on the electroactivity and the conductivity of the chemically prepared material. © 1991.|
