|Abstract:||Polarized Raman spectra of LilO3 in its β-phase were taken at T = 10K, using single - crystalline samples. The spectrum breaks up into two distinct regions: high (ω > 760 cm-1) and low (ω < 500 cm-1) frequencies. The former is composed of three peaks for each symmetry type (Ag, Bg, Eg) and originate in stretching vibrations of the 103 - ion. Of the remaining 12 lines for each symmetry type, predicted by group theory in the second region, we identify all but three: two of Ag symmetry and one Eg symmetry. We also obtain values for the frequency, linewidth and relative intensity of all these modes. © 1983.|
