|Title:||Simultaneous Emg Of Latissimus Dorsi And Sternocostal Portion Of Pectoralis Major Muscles During Butterfly Natatory Stroke|
Dalla Pria Bankoff A.
|Abstract:||In 50 skilful swimmers, the muscular activity of the LD and PM muscles was studied electromyographically with a pair of miniature Beckman electrodes fixed over each muscle. Action potentials were recorded and analysed with a TECA electromyograph TE4. The swimmers were classified in categories (kids, juniors, seniors, teenagers and adults). Each individual performed a series of combined movements of one butterfly natatory stroke. The results showed that, LD was the muscle that participated effectively in most of the phases of the movements and in all categories examined. On the other hand, the PM by its sternocostal portion had no effective participation in this swimming style.|
