Title: Modification Of Foam Drainage By Electroosmotic Effect.

Abstract: Electroosmotic liquid mass transfer is observed in air-liquid foams subjected to dc fields in the range 15-100 v cm** minus **1. Foams were prepared by using aqueous sodium lauryl sulfate solutions and subjected to either vertical or horizontal dc fields. Liquid tranfer was monitored by volumetric and conductance measurements. In each case liquid moved toward the cathode, thus affecting spontaneous drainage. Transferred liquid volumes are proportional to the applied dc voltage; the average electroosmotic coefficient was found to be minus 4. 4 multiplied by 10** minus **6 m**3 C** minus **1, for a foam prepared with an 0. 15% lauryl sulfate solution.
