Abstract: Hydrothermal growth runs in a production autoclave were carried out using nutritient lascas from various mines spread over the quartz production belts in Brazil. The impurity content of lascas, in particular aluminum, was correlated with synthetic crystal properties. The effect of lascas grade on the quality of grown crystals was studied by X-ray diffraction topography, ultrasonic attenuation, inspectroscopy, infrared absorption, and atomic absorption technique and the results are analyzed.
