|Title:||Phonons In A-si:h-based Amorphous Superlattices|
|Abstract:||We review experimental results on low-frequency acoustic phonons in amorphous superlattices. The coherence length of these phonons extends over many repetition periods and their dispersion relation is folded into the mini-Brillouin zone defined by the periodicity. Under certain conditions, the superlattices can also sustain vibration modes localized at the surface. We present experimental evidence for the folding of the acoustic dispersion and for the existence of surface modes in amorphous superlattices. © 1989.|
