|Title:||Exchange Properties Of Silica Gel Functionalized With Pyridinium Ion|
|Abstract:||The selectivity constants of silica gel functionalized with pyridinium ion were studied in exchange reactions with IO3 -, ClO4 -, Br-, I-, SCN-, ClO3 -, BrO3 - and IO4 -. The experimental affinities, in decreasing order, were: ClO4 - ≫ SCN-≫ I- ≫ IO4 - ≫Br- ≫ ClO3 - ≫ BrO3 - ≫ IO3 -. In a competitive reaction, a solution containing ClO4 - and another anion, at a concentration ratio [ClO4 -] : [B] = 1:1 in contact with the exchanger phase, showed after equilibration, that IO3 - and BrO3 - remained 100% in the aqueous phase (ratio of selectivity constant K(ClO4 -) : K(IO3 -) ∼ 320 and K(ClO4 -) : K(BrO3 -) ∼ 80). For the other anions where the ratio K (ClO4 -) : K(B) ≦50, the mole fractions of B in the exchanger phase were (in percent): SCN- =35, I-=29, Br-=35, ClO3 -=22 and IO4 -=7. © 1987.|
