Title: Field Verification Of Drilling Models And Computerized Selection Of Drill Bit, And Drillstring Rotation

Abstract: A computer program was developed for the simultaneous selection of a rolling cutter bit bearing type (unsealed, sealed, or journal) together with some of the operating parameters such as the weight on the bit, and the drillstring rotation that minimizes the drilling cost per foot for a single bit run within certain constraints presented in this paper. The results showed that it was possible to predict the penetration rate of the 5th well given the coefficients calculated from the 4 previous ones using both models tested, resulting in the possibility of cost savings through their appropriate use. All pertinent equations, method and computer source code listing are provided.
