Title: On The Effective Computation Of The Inertia Of A Non-hermitian Matrix

Abstract: given a complex lower Hessenberg matrix A with unit codiagonal, a hermitian matrix H is constructed such that, if H is non-singular In A= In H. If A is real, H is real symmetric. Classical results of Fujiwara on the root-separation problem and of Schwarz on the eigenvalue-separation problem are included as special cases. © 1979 Springer-Verlag.
