|Title:||Preliminary Autohistoradiographic Studies About The Possible Participation Of The Secretory Ameloblasts During The Enamel Maturation|
|Abstract:||The present study was carried out to show the possible participation of the secretory ameloblasts in the process of enamel maturation. Twenty-four Swiss Webster mice, zero days old (the first 24 hr) were injected with a single dose of 40 μCi of body weight of L-proline 2, 3, 4, 5-3H(N) and sacrificed at 4, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 hr following the administration of the labelled compound. The jaws, containing one incisor tooth, were processed to obtain either frozen or paraffin section and autohistoradiographed according to Kopriwa and Lebload (1962). Our findings, by confronting both techniques employed, suggest that the secretory ameloblasts possibly could take part during the process of enamel maturation removing organic matter of the enamel matrix.|
