Title: Spectral Evidence For A Directional Molecular Rotation In Intermolecular Hydrogen Bonded Liquids

Abstract: Vapour and liquid phase infrared spectra of ethanol, 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol, isopropanol and 1,1,1,3,3,3,-hexafluoro-2-propanol were studied. A narrower width is found for several specific ro-vibrational bands in liquid spectra as compared to those of the vapours. Detailed analysis of the band contours suggests that the rotatory motion for liquid alcohols is anisotropic. © 1979.
