Title: Extended De Launay Model For The Lattice Dynamics Of H.c.p. Metals

Abstract: By immersing the point-ion h.c.p. lattice into a free-electron gas and calculating the electron-ion interaction in the extended de Launay model, the lattice dynamics of five metals, namely that of scandium, terbium, holmium, thallium and zirconium, is studied. The calculated phonon dispersion curves along the principal symmetry directions as well as the lattice heat capacities of these metals are found to be in good agreement with the experimental results. © 1975 Società Italiana di Fisica.
