|Abstract:||The purpose of the present study was to establish a relationship between storage of sodium fluoride and sodium monofluorphosphate dentifrices at room temperature for one year and storage at elevated temperatures. Sodium fluoride and sodium monofluorphosphate dentifrices at 1200 ppm F were stored at room temperature or 45°C. MFP dentifrices were also stored at 55°C. The free ionic fluoride, the total fluoride and the fluoride as monofluorphosphate contents were periodically determined. The uptake of total fluoride in dental was also analysed. The results showed that the storage of NaF dentifrices at 45°C for 192 hours simulates the storage at room temperature for one year. And the storage of MFP dentifrices at 55°C for 384 hours simulates the storage at room temperature for one year. The room temperature was 22,2°C. Fluoride uptake test showed not to be a good predictor of the loss of efficacy of aged dentifrices.|
