|Abstract:||This paper develops a multiobjective approach for energy planning on transport sector, including environmental considerations. The problem is dealt with the weighted method, generating alternatives of efficient configurations for transport fleet on the horizon year of 2000. These configurations are quantified by a trade-off curve, relating the objectives of minimizing the annual energy cost and the carbon dioxide emissions. The model variables are the fuels utilized by road motor vehicles (gasoline, Diesel, alcohol, electricity and natural gas), considering the available technologies for road transport of passengers and cargo. The results suggest that a best set of economic and environmental compromises for transportation could be achieved with some reflection on consumption patterns, determining the viability of fuels which are more environmentally sustainable than traditional ones. This quantitative analysis is based on the energy demand projected for road transport in the year 2000.|
