|Abstract:||A study was carried out to apply and corroborate the three-dimensional, transient, inviscid model, for the horizontal and vertical particle conveying, by comparing the numerical results with experimental data. For the solutions of the partial differential equation models, the commercial code CFD was employed, the CFX, based on the numerical method of finite volumes for the numerical discretization. The pressure-velocity coupling by SIMPLEC algorithm, κ-ε turbulence default model, and first order differential scheme (UPWIND), were used as strategies to guarantee convergence and stability of the numerical solution. Comparison of the results with published data showed good agreement. A case study was made to determine the effect of a self-cleaning elbow in the horizontal transport section, over the particle distribution in the duct transversal section, minimizing particles rope formation in the bottom of the duct.|
