|Abstract:||Eucalyptus wood is the most important raw-material for cellulose and paper production in Brazil. But, there are other possibilities for its utilization such as particleboard, plywood and wood laminated-glued. However, the combination of wood and mineral binders (Portland cement) did not revealed yet a commercial application. This alternative use for Eucalyptus wood can be very interesting for industrial purposes, because during wood process there is a great production of residues. In this research mechanical property of Eucalyptuscement composite was evaluated. It was choosen Eucalyptus grandis species, cut in two seasons: winter and summer; for the latter it was also evaluated the biological decay of the wood in the composite properties. Samples were collected in three trunk positions (bottom, middle and top), for three trees ages (3, 5 and 7 years). Wood particles, produced by means of a mechanical device, were mixed with two Brazilian Portland cement types (CP II-E-32 and CP V-ARI). Compression strength of the samples showed interaction between parameters analyzed, mainly Portland cement type V and winter season cut influences.|
