Title: Double Pumped Parametric Amplifier With Sbs Suppression By Applying A Strain Distribution To The Fiber

Abstract: A dual pump parametric amplifier using a strained fiber to suppress stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) was presented. Additional phase modulation with just one frequency of 140 MHz was used to increased the SBS threshold by 11 dB. The method consists of using several coils of fiber wounded at different strains, thus producing strain distributions along the total length of fiber. The results show that SBS can be completely suppressed without any phase modulation of the pumps.
