The subjects were submitted to balance evaluation with Berg's Scale of Functional Balance (BSFB), Brazilian version, composed by fourteen tasks. Results. Stroke patients had an average punctuation of 37 points, showing a high risk of falls. There was no significant correlation between the patient's age and time of lesion with BSFB punctuation. Conclusion. This study showed that stroke patients present high risks of falls, independently of age and time of lesion.
