Title: Quaternary Amplitude Optical Packets Generated By Four-wave Mixing: Power Level Optimization

Abstract: A recent proposal suggests that four-wave mixing may be used to generate quaternary amplitude optical packets. We consider the reception of these packets and determine the optimal power level spacing that minimizes the bit error rate under the dominance of signal dependent noise. Results indicate a sensitivity of -23 dBm for a 12.5 GBaud optical packet. ©2009IEEE.
