Abstract: This work aims to present the implementation of a system of advanced control and optimization in the causticizing plant of Monte Alegre Unit of Klabin S.A. A brief introduction to Advanced Process Control, a tool being used in the projects of the Research and Development area of Klabin Monte Alegre, with the purpose of assisting in the control and optimization of complex and highly nonlinear processes, characteristic of the pulp and paper industry, will be presented. This work presents the steps in implementing a tool of multivariate predictive and adaptive control with the implementation of MIMO and MISO loops. The improvements in the whole process are detailed through the quality data of the causticizing process, such as active alkali and causticizing efficiency. The gains from the introduction of this tool surpassed a 50% reduction in the variability of the process, which can be easily observed in the temperature control and active alkali, resulting from the increase in causticizing efficiency from 69% to 78%.
