Abstract: This article presents an experience of professional development of educators carried out in the city of Campinas-SP, through 2003-2004, theme of a narrative investigation for the Master's Education Program at PUC-Campinas. The text brings some narratives from Popular Educators, reporting the theme of their education and of the work developed in literacy groups of young and adults, as an important experience in the life of all the people who have been participating in the process. The importance of the experience can be seen by the narratives, which are full of the educators understanding about themselves and their work developed together with educators and students, all of them producers of a new and different understanding from the lived experience. Educators' attitude as writers manifested in the narratives and in their life choice as educators indicates that the emancipating conception of the knowledge production experienced in the Popular Education gives rise to personal development, amplifying creative energies and solidarity, fundamental aspects to overcoming social constraints and restrictive conditions. The texts written by educators and researchers also give rise to a new meaning of life as a work of art still to be finished and open to new experiences.
