|Title:||The Curé Of Ars And The Representation Of The Sheppard Of Souls (1786-1859) [o Cura D'ars E A Representação Do Pastor Das Almas (1786-1859)]|
|Abstract:||We intend to analyze how the representation of the priest as a shepherd of souls and the spirituality of the good Shepherd were constructed and handled through biographical and hagiographic narratives, aiming to elaborate ecclesiastical identities aimed at strengthening the Catholic faith and to face the challenges demanded by modern culture in the context of the post-French Revolution. Therefore, studying the trajectory of Father John Mary Baptist Vianney, the Curé of Ars (1786-1859), seems appropriate, given that he was one of the most iconic ecclesiastics that encompassed this model of shepherd of souls at this juncture, besides being used as a representation of exemplary priest by many popes and religious from the beginning of his canonization in 1862.|
