|Title:||Characterization And Lithological Hydrodinamic The Associated With Complex Aquifer Of Alkaline Carbonatitic Barreiro, West Of Minas [caracterização Litológica E Hidrodinâmica Do Aquífero Associado Ao Complexo Alcalino Carbonatítico Do Barreiro, Oeste De Minas Gerais]|
|Abstract:||This work presents a hydrogeological characterization of the aquifers related to the Alkaline Carbonatitic Complex of Barreiro, southern Brazil, based on core boreholes, pumping well tests and long term observation of the water level in piezometers. The interpretation of vertical sections showed that the main aquifer, named H-2 is a silty saprolite with bands of coarse magnetite and silexites, it is semi-confinated by the H-1 aquitard, a clayish saprolite. The hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer H-2 was obtained by pumping well tests and is around 0.5 meters/day, however, in silexite-magnetite-rich saprolites it is around 1 meter/day. Two confined aquifers have been also identified. One of them is related to the top of the fresh rock that covers the central part of the intrusion and the other is related to the fenitized quartzites on the border and contains mesotermal water as the main characteristic. This research emphasizes the importance of the basic geology and different kinds of pumping tests as an essential tool to the hydrogeological characterization of an area.|
