Avaliação da rede de armazenagem para a soja do estado do Mato Grosso : aplicação de um modelo de localização

Abstract

Brazil is responsible for 30% of soybeans world production and holds the position as biggest exporter. Regionally, the Midwest region is the largest producer of the grain and the State of Mato Grosso appears as a major producer. The last harvest was considered record crop, however, the available logistics infrastructure is not adequate to face the demand of domestic production. The inefficiencies of transport and storage imply competitive losses of Brazilian soy in the international market. Thus, the aim of this paper is to find best location of warehouses in the State of Mato Grosso, from the location theory and using mixed integer linear programming. The results show that the optimal location of warehouses demands further restructuring and increased static capacity. In addition, there is a strong dependency on the producing region, besides the freight cost and distance to export ports.
