Goldenberg R.
Abstract: Summary Two new species of Pleroma D. Don (Melastomataceae: Melastomeae) from Brazil are described and illustrated here. Pleroma caissara F. S. Mey. and P. guartelaensis F. S. Mey & R. Goldenb. have been repeatedly determined and recognised in taxonomic treatments respectively as Tibouchina regnellii Cogn. and T. riedeliana Cogn. P. caissara can be recognised by the arboreal habit, dichasial inflorescences, two involucral, elliptic bracteoles, and purple petals with a white basal portion. P. guartelaensis can be recognised by the shrubby habit, congested inflorescences, two elliptic bracteoles, sericeous hypanthium and glandulose-setulose to glandulose-villose filaments. © 2014 The Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
