Title: Improvement Of Pressure And Saturation Estimations From 4d Seismic Supported By Flow Simulation Data

Abstract: Integrating different datasets such as flow simulation and seismic data is still a big challenge to the industry mainly because these datasets have different resolutions. A current practice, in quantitative approaches, is based in upscaling/downscaling methods to equalize the different scales. Upscaling methods normally yields a smooth effect and the simplest downscaling methods are not successful in capturing the fine-scale heterogeneities; this is commonly observed when 4D seismic data is transferred to simulation grids, as the former has a lower vertical resolution than the latter. In this work, an integration tool is proposed that combines knowledge from reservoir characterization and flow simulation to improve the scale issues in the estimation of pressure and saturation from 4D seismic. To mitigate these effects multiple simulation models are generated by combining the most important reservoir uncertainties. The simulation results of the multiple realizations are used to constrain the inversion process that estimates pressure and saturation from 4D seismic data. This procedure allowed recovering part of the fine scale heterogeneities that are not present in seismic data due to its low vertical resolution and improved the pressure and saturation estimations.
