Title: Optimization of a two-stage erbium-doped fiber amplifier with large signal input power and pump lasers with moderate power

Abstract: We present a theoretical analysis and experimental results for the most suitable configuration of pump power in a two-stage erbium-doped fiber amplifier. The amplifiers are arranged in a copropagating pump scheme and use large signal input and modest pump power. Experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions.
