Abstract: An experimental method for population inversion detection between two energy levels of some species present In a plasma discharge is described, in particular it was possible to detect this mechanism on the 2p(4)-3s(2) (Paschen notation) neon levels In a hollow-cathode tube by measuring the optogalvanic effect induced by a HeNe laser.
