Title: Anisotropic superconducting properties of aligned MgB2 crystallites

Abstract: Samples of aligned MgB2 crystallites have been prepared, allowing for the first time the direct identification of an upper critical field anisotropy H-c2(ab)/H-c2(c) = xi (ab)/xi (c) similar or equal to 1.7, with xi (o,ab) similar or equal to 70 Angstrom, xi (o,c) = 40 Angstrom, and a mass anisotropy ratio m(ab)/m(c) similar or equal to 0.3. A ferromagnetic background signal was identified, possibly related to the raw materials purity.
