Title: Simulation and thermal integration SRV in extractive distillation column

Abstract: The present work aims at studying the application of the thermal integration Secondary Reflux and Vaporization (SRV) in extractive distillation. This technique is based on heat exchange between the rectifying and stripping sections, using the natural temperature difference between these two sections of the extractive distillation column for an ethanol/water/ethylene glycol mixture. The calculated results are compared with those relative to extractive distillation for an acetone/methanol/water mixture. A substantial reduction in the energy consumption is observed when comparing integrated columns with conventional ones.
