|Title:||Spectral evolution of a two-channel WDM system in the presence of modulation in instability|
|Abstract:||WDM optical communication systems operating in the anomalous dispersion region are shown to exhibit enhanced spectral broadening due to power phase-matched pumping of generated four-wave mixing spectral sidebands. In this regime, strong signal power modulation along the fiber takes place. We also show that nonzero dispersion-shifted fibers successfully overcome these problems. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.|
