Abstract: Reproductive biology of Elaenia cristata Pelzeln, 1868 (Passeriformes: Tyrannidae) in two campos rupestres areas in Minas Gerais, Brazil. We present data on eight nests of Elaenia cristata (Tyrannidae) studied in areas of campo rupestre at Serra do Cipo National Park (2004) and Serra do Rola Moca State Park (2005). Low cup nests were built on forks in shrubs. They were composed by vegetal fibers attached with spider web and filled with kapok. Nest building was done between 10 and 17 days. Laying was between 1 and 2 eggs. Incubation period was 18,5 days and nestling period, 18 days. We recorded adults feeding nestlings with fruits. E. cristata shares several reproductive characters with other species of Elaenia, such as the number of eggs, both sexes involved in parental care and in nest defence. The reproductive success calculated with simple percentage of successful nests(33,3%) recorded for E. cristata is similar to other Neotropical birds.
