|Title:||GENERAL CRITERIA FOR THE RESEARCH GRANT CONCESSION IN BRAZIL: A STUDY IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING|
|Abstract:||The present study aims to analyze the scientific production, in the 2007-2009 triennium, of the CNPq researcher grants in the Production Engineering area of CAPES, considering the general criteria for the grant concession. To measure the scientific production of grantees in the Production Engineering sub area, the researchers Lattes curriculla were used. The data collection comprised information related to leadership of research groups, papers published in journals (classed by Qualis in the Production Engineering area), technical production and concluded thesis supervisions. The results showed that there is a correlation between the level of a conceded grant and the number of qualified publications in journals. However, grantees with zlevel 1C present a more consistent scientific production than researchers in level IA. Concerning the CNPq criteria for research grants concession, these refer not only quantitative factors, but also to qualitative factors. Therefore, it is inferred that there is an evaluation of the scientific production of researchers, which is a quantitative criterion; however, qualitative criteria, such as leadership in research lines and training of human resources define the concession or not of the research grants|
