|Title:||DYNAMIC ELECTRON-TUNNELING IN METAL-SURFACES UNDER INTENSE IR LASER IRRADIATION|
|Abstract:||Electron tunnelling through a laser-dressed metal-vacuum barrier is considered. It is used to describe the photoelectric effect from metal surfaces subjected to intense pulsed infrared laser irradiation. The method described is semiclassical and treats the laser field non-perturbatively. The tunnelling probability is calculated in the WKB approximation and the corresponding time-averaged photocurrent is obtained. The results are shown to compare favourably with the existing data, showing the importance of taking into account the laser dressing of the electron-confining barrier.|
