Title: Buckley-Leverett mathematical and numerical models describing vertical equilibrium process in porous media

Abstract: A laboratory experiment is performed to analyze the motion of two-phase flow in a porous medium under the condition of vertical equilibrium. The mathematical model is described. The analytical solution is exhibited for short time. Numerical schemes of Godunov type are implemented, with and without viscosity. Analytical and numerical solutions that take into account hysteresis effects are also considered. (C) 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
