Title: Nonlinear Hanle effect in an open V-type level system

Abstract: We carried out an exact density matrix analysis for the nonlinear Hanle effect in an open V-type level system. Steady-state analytical solutions of the Liouville equation have been obtained and the dependence of the populations of the upper and lower states on the applied magnetic field is discussed. These curves, corresponding to experimental ones when fluorescence or absorption is detected, are dependent on the excitation and decay rates and can be used as a tool for analysing population inversion in laser transitions.
